Energy Efficiency in Cherry Creek
Recycling / Energy Conservation Programs

The District has negotiated a district wide recycling program with Waste Management, Inc., for the 2009-2010 school year at no cost to the district.  Our goal is to recycle at least 40% of all waste material produced by all district facilities.

The Single Stream Program is a system that allows a combination of material in one container instead of sorting.

Energy Star, created in 1992, is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. Its national performance rating system provides a 1-100 scale that helps organizations assess how efficiently their buildings use energy relative to similar buildings nationwide. A building must receive a rating of at least 75 to be eligible for Energy Star designation.

The following schools have met the criteria from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to be identifed as an Energy Star Building.
